The class of volcanologists in the second year of primary school at the Joan Pelegrí School came to the Foundation, and more specifically to the Volcano School programme, to complete their study project: Volcanoes and volcanologists.
We quickly looked for a day and prepared, together with their tutor, teaching material that would help them to broaden and deepen a little more the knowledge they could have acquired in just two months of class about volcanoes. And that’s where we showed up.

The first thing that surprised us was the fantastic reception from the children. They all knew Anne’s name and had been looking at both the Volcano School website and the Foundation’s website for information. But not only that, the walls were full of drawings of volcanoes, both artistic and didactic, they had built 3 volcanoes and even a sectioned globe to learn the different layers of the earth… and all at only 8 years old.
As soon as we started to show them everything we had prepared for them, a new surprise, their knowledge and concern for the environment went far beyond what we never found in adults, in theory with more experience and knowledge. If we already thought that the new generations have a more supportive and committed vision of the environment, they quickly made it clear to us. The future of the planet is theirs and they know very well what they have to do to protect it.
