Guides in volcanoes are key to promoting environmental education for a sustainable planet. Guides in volcanoes take on environmental challenges in the economic, social, cultural, and territorial management fields. The foundation aims to provide the tools for the guides to implement collaboration, cooperation, and co-training strategies between them and other actors (e.g. volcanologists) to work for the common good by improving the lives of the people who live with volcanoes. This network of guides promotes a multi-stakeholder, cross-cutting, international, and cooperative dynamic using volcanoes as a focus to raise awareness, excite, learn and educate the population.
Objectives.
- To promote international exchange between guides working on volcanoes. Action and cooperation are the characteristics of this network.
- Sharing knowledge, technical and financial resources. The shared construction of network projects is a challenge for all members.
- Improve the working conditions of the guides for their stabilization and professional improvement by considering them key actors for a positive and fair chance in the societies that coexist with volcanoes.
Actions.
- Creation of a participating newsletter by guides and volcanologists to exchange experiences and information.
- Creation of an application to connect guides, visitors, and volcanologists to improve knowledge and mitigate risk on volcanoes.
- An annual training meeting and workshop between all the guides.
