35 años después de la tragedia
El 13 de noviembre de 1985, una erupción del volcán Nevado del Ruiz (Colombia) provocó que una avalancha de lodo, agua, rocas y árboles llegara a Armero, arrasando todo a su paso y enterrando a la población y la vida del municipio a medida que avanzaba.
La tragedia mató a 24.442 personas.
¿Cuáles son los objetivos de la colaboración?
Fundación Volcán Activo se une para el establecimiento de un protocolo internacional para el manejo de menores durante erupciones, deseamos reconocer la tragedia de Armero para una mejor gestión del riesgo de desastres a nivel internacional.
¿Qué es la Fundación Armando Armero?
Armando Armero es una fundación sin fines de lucro que trabaja desde hace más de diez años en la reconstrucción de la memoria de Armero (Colombia), un pueblo devastado en 1985 tras la erupción del volcán Nevado del Ruiz que afectó la parte norte del Tolima. . Desde 2012 lidera la investigación «Niños perdidos de Armero, ¡Una causa que nos toca a todos!»
La fundación tiene un compendio de 501 historias grabadas de familiares que buscan a sus hijos. De estas historias, se han verificado 137 casos en los que los niños salieron vivos de Armero.
Hasta la fecha, la Fundación ha realizado 4 reencuentros.
