OBJECTIVES
WITH OUR PROGRAM WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE FULFILLMENT OF:
We strongly believe that there is an urgent need to prioritize proactive disaster risk reduction rather than react to disaster events.
All children receive theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to promote sustainable development.
Strengthen children’s response to climate change and disasters caused by volcanic eruption.
Educate children about the biological diversity of volcanic ecosystems so that new generations are responsible for their conservation.
PROJECTS
PROJECT #1
T’APROPO AL MEU VOLCÀ
It’s a local project in Barcelona which involves schools in La Garrotxa area so that their students become “teachers” for students of other schools. The meaning of the project goes beyond the simple discovery of a nearby and lively natural volcano environment. It seeks to relate students from different territories and realities and work on the ability to transmit the acquired knowledge.
We want children to share learning in a fun way.
PROJECT #2
A VOLCANIC JOURNEY
We will take children from different regions of Spain to visit active volcanoes in Europe.
The objective is that children reinforce their learning with direct experience, visiting and studying an active volcano and understanding firsthand the action of a volcanologist.
We have all the security measures and specific guides for the visit.
PROJECT #3
SELFIE EXPLOSION
We will ask thousands of children from schools in volcanic areas to take a selfie and send it to us through the website we will enable. We will create a great world map of the volcanoes, seen by the children of the areas that inhabit them.
The project seeks to promote the exchange of topics related to volcanology so that schools of the world can join autonomously to participate.
ABOUT US
Volcano Active Foundation arises in Spain in 2018 as a result of passion, for the volcanic world and for the people who inhabit these areas, of its founder Anne Fornier.
Anne is linked to the world of volcanoes, since the foundation of “Villages and Volcanoes”, an association based on the divulgation of eruptive risk. She has 6 years of studies in volcanology and more than 20 years of field experience.
Since 2021 VOLCANO ACTIVE FOUNDATION has been committed to the UN Global Compact corporate responsibility initiative and its principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
