Scientists who act beyond science.
Anne Fornier (1978 Annecy, Alta Saboya) humanist, geographer and French volcanologist.
She met Haroun Tazieff, famous French volcanologist, who aroused her interest in volcanoes.
She has studied physical geography and analysis of volcanic risks at the University of Lyon, where she obtained the Master in the academic discipline of Geophysics in 2001. She was a student of the climatologist Marcel Leroux, director of the Laboratory of Climatology, Risks and Environment, from whom she learned his theory about the dynamics of time and climate.
After graduating scientific guide work from Terra Incógnita, a French cultural travel agency, she traveled through India, Pakistan, Ethiopia and Vanuatu taking the opportunity to study those volcanoes and investigate them.
Her first experience and contact with the local communities that lived in volcanic areas was the impulse in 2002 to found the NGO “Peuples et Volcans du Monde”, focused on risk management and the impact of acid rain on the civilian population.
In 2016 she created the travel agency Volcanic Travel / Volcanes Emotions, a travel agency specialized in volcanic areas under the proposal of different trips to discover the volcanoes and their ecosystem: «We talk about tectonic plates, convection currents, cartography, geology, lithosphere, eruptions … It is the union between the world that has never stopped since prehistoric times until today. Not only do we propose a trip, but start a new worldview »
In 2018 she founded Volcano Active Foundation.
