Esto lo saben bien los agricultores de las laderas del Vesubio, frente a la bah&iacute;a de N&aacute;poles, donde pueden presumir de tener los mejores tomates del mundo.<\/p>\n<p>Pero en zonas menos explotadas comercialmente como Italia, hay plantaciones de caf&eacute; o cacao, semillas y legumbres en Costa Rica, Guatemala, Colombia, M&eacute;xico y otras regiones de Sudam&eacute;rica, con producciones que asombran por su calidad y sabor.<\/p>\n<p>Uno de los proyectos de la fundaci&oacute;n es promover la agricultura volc&aacute;nica tanto en Sudam&eacute;rica como en &Aacute;frica, esta &uacute;ltima en una situaci&oacute;n a&uacute;n m&aacute;s cr&iacute;tica.<\/p>\n<p>A nivel material, los volcanes proporcionan elementos muy &uacute;tiles como la <strong>piedra <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;P&Oacute;MEZ&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Eyecci&oacute;n volc&aacute;nica altamente vesicular, t&iacute;picamente sil&iacute;cica en composici&oacute;n. Es esencialmente magma que ha sido espumado por gases escapando y luego enfriado y solidificado durante la erupci&oacute;n. La piedra p&oacute;mez riol&iacute;tica es t&iacute;picamente de densidad lo suficientemente baja como para flotar en el agua. Cerca de un respiradero, la piedra p&oacute;mez caliente puede acumularse y formar un cono de piedra p&oacute;mez.&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/volcanofoundation.org\/es\/glossary\/pomez-es\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>p&oacute;mez<\/a><\/strong> que se utiliza para hacer mortero en la construcci&oacute;n y para pulir metales.<\/p>\n<p>La <strong>perlita<\/strong> se utiliza para hacer cer&aacute;mica y en la horticultura.<\/p>\n<p>La <strong>diabasa y el <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;BASALTO&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Roca volc&aacute;nica (o lava) que se caracteriza por ser de color oscuro (de gris a negro), contener entre un 45 y un 53% de s&iacute;lice y ser rica en hierro y magnesio. Las lavas bas&aacute;lticas son m&aacute;s fluidas que las andesitas o dacitas, que contienen m&aacute;s s&iacute;lice.&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/volcanofoundation.org\/es\/glossary\/basalto-es\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>basalto<\/a> triturado<\/strong> se utilizan en carreteras, como balasto para ferrocarriles, en gr&aacute;nulos para tejados o en rompeolas.<\/p>\n<p>Cada zona y terreno <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;VOLC&Aacute;NICO&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;div&amp;gt;Cuerpo de roca que se compone de fragmentos de rocas o minerales derivados volc&aacute;nicamente que luego fueron transportados a cierta distancia de su lugar de origen.&amp;lt;\/div&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\" role=\"link\">volc&aacute;nico<\/a> se estudia para analizar las posibilidades de explotaci&oacute;n, ya que cada parte del terreno es diferente, y al igual que tiene diferentes necesidades,
